This page describes the various ways we use to communicate. It gets a bit complicated depending on where we are – out to sea, in port, on trips back home, with or without access to WIFI, etc. So please read through this so you will always know how to keep in touch with us and follow our journey.
1. THIS WEBSITE: If you’re reading this, you already know how to get here! This is our main website, and you can link to everything else from here. Bookmark this page. This is where I will post longer, essay-type blog posts, which you will find on our Blog Feed page.

WILL THIS BE UPDATED WHEN OUT TO SEA?
NO. For updates when we are out to sea, access our Following Seas Tracker, or follow us on Facebook.
2. FOLLOWING SEAS TRACKER: This is a tracking system that will show a map of our current location, with a red line behind us showing our path to date. It will also contain a brief daily update (when we’re out to sea), which will be just a short blurb on what’s going on today.

WILL THIS BE UPDATED WHEN OUT TO SEA?
YES! When we are on a passage I will update this tracker at least once a day, including short blurbs and our location, using our IridiumGo Satphone. I will sometimes include a photo, which will be blurry due to the low bandwidth of satellite communications. (I will usually not update this daily when we are in port.)
NOTE: If you are viewing this site on your cellphone, you’ll need to click the “X” on the blog to close it, in order to see the map. On a laptop you won’t need to do this, as the blog won’t cover the map. You can also use the zoom buttons on the bottom right of the map to zoom in for a closer view of where we are.
3. YOUTUBE: I have a YouTube channel where I will be posting 15-20 minute long episodes about every week or so. Please subscribe! Note that our videos will usually be a bit behind, sometimes by weeks, as it takes a while to produce a video. Our other communications methods will be updated in real-time, but…the videos are FUN! This is how to really experience our journey right along with us.

4. FACEBOOK: We have a dedicated Facebook page: SV Juliet Sailing. This page is open to anyone and is where we will post links to everything – the main blog, Following Seas, and YouTube. If you haven’t yet liked this page, please do so, as it’s a great central point to see all of our updates.

WILL THIS BE UPDATED WHEN OUT TO SEA?
YES! Our Following Seas updates will automatically post on the SV Juliet Facebook page via satellite, so you’ll be able to track our passages there.
5. PREDICT WIND TRACKER: Want to see how the weather is where we are right now? Access our Predict Wind tracker! It will show you the current wind/weather in our location. This site also includes a tracker showing where we’ve sailed, similar to Following Seas.
